Home Adventure and Ecotourism sites Indawgyi Lake Wildlife Sanctuary,

Indawgyi Lake, the largest inland lake in Southeast Asia and the surrounding monsoon forests and wetlands, offer opportunities to observe habitats of jungle cats, rare butterflies, turtles, and about 170 species of resident and migratory birds. The 300 square-mile ( 777 sq km ) wildlife sanctuary, in Kachin State's Mohnyin township, was established in 1999. The sanctuary is also listed as an ASEAN Heritage Site. The easiest way to reach the sancturay from Yangon is to travel by air to Myitkyina and to hire a car for the remaining 100 miles ( 160km ). Travelers with more time on their hands have the potion of travelling from Yangon or Mandalay by train to Mohnyin, and taking a car for the rest of the jouney.
